Why is my T-10 leaking at input shaft?
I have a 1960 Vette, the tranny leaks at the input shaft, I pulled out the transmission and removed the front bearing retainer, I can see that splash from the bearing is supposed to be caught by the oil groove in the tubular section of the retainer and then drain back to the case. It seems there is a lot of clearance where the input shaft goes through the tubular section of the bearing retainer, could this part be just so worn that it allows oil to pass right through? Anyone out there had this problem?

Melting Slicks
Assuming the T10 and Muncie are similar you can be leaking for a few reasons:
1. Bad gasket/seal on bearing retainer
2. No sealer on bearing retainer bolts (these go straight through the case)
3. Worn/damaged input nut or bearing retainer surface. The nut and bearing retainer pretty much seal everything up.

Overfilled?
I't possible I don't remember, but isn't the front bearing a shielded bearing? The bearing retainer has a cavity to drain back gear oil that gets past the bearing shield. Hole plugged by wrong gasket?
