Default Wire Wheels for a 1966??

My friend has a set of wire wheels with the Corvette insignia on the centers. I have seen the set so I know that they exist. He claims that they are original equipment that came on his 1966 Corvette. I never saw wire wheels on a Corvette before and I told him that they must be aftermarket. He disagreed. Please tell me that I'm right!!

No Corvette ever left the factory with wire wheels - they're aftermarket or dealer accessory items that were added later.

That's what I thought. They do look nice. Thanks.
