Zollner Pistons would you use?
Has anyone used Zollner pistons in a 1965 396/425 hp motor? Just looking to rebuild the motor to stock specs nothing radical. What would the Zoller part number be?
Thanks

Recently had my 1966 427/425 rebuilt - used TRW forged pistons (full float pins), H-Beam race rods and an NOS 223 crank. Very happy with the results.

AFAIK the 396 rods are okay for street use and 6500 revs, but definitely have them Magnaflux inspected. I don't think they're fundamentally weak like the early 327 rods, but you should ask Clem Zahrobsky. If there's any doubt in their durability, I would go with Crower Sportsman rods like I recommend for mechanical lifter 327s.
As far as heads are concerned I recommend pocket porting/port matching and a multiangle valve job for ALL Corvette engines if you want "more power". It's good for 5-10 percent more at the top end with less rolloff to the redline, and doesn't effect visual appearance or idle characteristics and low end torque.
