Original Engine Block ID/1965 396/425HP
Hey guys I got back what is supposed to be the original engine block to my dad's 1965 Corvette Stingray 396/425hp. I had some guys over and they say that the numbers on the block leave them to believe that this is the not the original block. On the block is the number: 14016379 which I believe is the casting number. Also near this is: F269. Also on the top of the block by the cylinder openings is: VO89980O. Is this the block that goes with this car or is there another way to make sure I have what I'm supposed to have. Thanks!

A 1965 396 engine has a casting number 3855962,located on top left rear of motor where the bell housing bolt to the block. I have know idea what your casting number refers to but it was May 26 1969

14016379 was a 350 small-block, used in '77-'79 passenger cars, Nova, Chevelle, Monte Carlo, Camaro, etc. - it's unique due to the oil dipstick hole being in the side of the oil pan instead of in the block. F 26 9 would make it June 26, 1979. The V0899800 stamp probably indicates a service replacement engine.
