2 great cars!
I met Bob a while back, we met through our cars racing history
as they ran against each other in 1967.His car was owned by Wingate &
mine, Walt lister. Cant remember if I posted his cars links or not, but you will be seeing his 67 on the cover of a major vette mag very soon.
(a month or 2) He stopped by to compare old pics a few weeks ago,
does not post here, so I thought I would post his cars links.
Neat stuff! Worth checking out!

Re: 2 great cars! (Les)
Great pictures. Thanks for posting. I have a picture of Don Yenko driving a 68 Corvette race car with James Garner and a woman sitting in the car. James Garner is holding up a trophy in what looks like a victory lap. James Garner made a racing movie in 1969 called "The Racing Scene." I saw it once on Speedvision and have been trying to get a copy of it but no luck so far. Any one know where to get a VHS copy? I emailed Speedvision and a James Garner web site but they could not help.

396RAT,
Bob is quite a guy.Talked to him a while back about a 1957 Chevy 150 Handyman wagon 283-283 fuelie that had passed thru his hands back in 1976 and he remembered every part of not only the car but the deal as well.Hed be a great guy for Chip Miller to bring back to Corvette Carlisle as a guest celebrity. What do you think? And the fact that he knew your car so well just adds frosting to the cake of your 396.Did your car come from Clippinger?Did Bob actually sell it?Heard that his car was seriously for sale.Cant remember who owns it right now,but it seems like it would be a shame if it left California. That is a California Corvette!..........Bill S

Bill, you must be talking about Bob W, as Bob R owns the car now.
Wingate got a new car (of his choice) every yr. back then as he was the #1 vette salesman in the United States. He would drive them for a yr, then order next yrs model and the yr old cars would be sold.
My car was sold by Dick Guldstrand from Baher Chevrolet.
Dick was sponsored by Baher in 65 and also sold cars.
The 2 cars new each other well in 67.
Lister got 1st in class in 67 and Wingate 2nd.
Lister also tied with Don Bulke and Don Devendorf
for overall champ in 67.
If you would like to contact these guys send me an e-mail.
As we are trying to set up a small reunion and talk frequently.

RAT, I posted the same two links on the NCRS forum a couple of weeks ago before the forum was croaked off. Lots of favorable repsonses.
Gotta love that the 396 beat the tri-power 427 435 hp car in 67. And beat Devendorf to boot.

396 RAT,
Yeah,I was talking about THE Bob Wingate, the one and only Bob Wingate, who almost single handedly stripped southern California of good 55-6-7 Chevs. He used to have the most unbelievable adds every month in Hemmings that you could imagine! And I think he sold the really good stuff straight to dealers.Talking to him the other day was a real pleasure.Have gotten to know Dick Guldstrand pretty well thru Jim Gessner as well. What a great guy as well as a visionary.Gessner has told me that Dick can basicly align a car by eye.WOW!!!!!!!.......Bill S
