I have a 1963 Corvette rolling chassis that I am selling and have found the serial number near the rear wheel. It is S I I 8 2 7 7. I have looked in the Corvette books I have but cannot find out how to decipher these numbers. I was told it was from a fuel injected car. Does anyone have this information?

The chassis number is the VIN, the 18,277 corvette built in 1963. Other than knowing it is an early June 63 build date not much can be assumed or assured from the number alone (GM has not released any records of build sheets for 63's).

That is the serial number of the car and all it will tell you is that it was the 18,277th Corvette off the assembly line. The only way you would know what engine was in the car when it was produced is if you found that number on documentation that came with the car originally or by finding the number in a survey such as Nolan Adams has done on Corvettes. It so happens that the Vette made two units before yours, S118275, is documented in one of Nolan's surveys and is in fact listed as a fuel injected Vette with an engine number of F06I3RF (June 13) with a block casting date of F73 (June 7, 1963).
