1967 L-88 clone on Ebay
There was a real nice 67 L-88 clone on Ebay last week. Bidding closed yesterday. The car is located in Hazelton PA. I am hoping to see it at Carlisle, assuming that is what the owner would do if it didnt sell on Ebay. Does anyone know anything about this car. The owner claims it has been built to exact L-88 specs. Also what do you think it is worth. It had bid to $75,400 when I last checked which was below reserve.
thanks

What kind of dumbass would pay all that money for an L88 clone? Can't drive it on the street with 12:5 pistons and no radiator shroud. I bet the seller was bidding on it to drive up the price.
All it is is a cobbled together 67 driver. Some people in this hobby are just plain stupid.

Agree, for 75k I could build an alum Big Block, 6 speed with coil over's
That would smoke an L88 in any type of driving. And still would have to be sold as a modified in the end.

The car is black with red stinger and black interior. As I remember it is a convertible. I spoke with the owner on Monday. Older person, has been in the hobby a very long time, somewhat well known. He claims the car has been built using ALL NOS parts. The motor is an original IT motor purchased over the counter complete sometime in 1967. He has owned the motor since 1968. He spent 10 years looking for the NOS parts to restore the car. It appears to be the real deal. If it is a late 67 car this could really be interesting. He has far more in the car than the 75k it was bid on ebay. The million dollar question is - "what is it really worth".

Its worth what anyone would pay. But, its still a "clone" no matter what kind of parts were used. I guess with enough title laundering that fact could sort of disappear........ As a clone its probably "worth" somewhere $40s to low $50s just on appeal value, (if its REAL nice) My BB '65 is a clone, and this was told up front, and its still FUN to drive. But it was no where near the price of a "real" one.

JL is this what your looking for? Almost every collectable car I have ever owned cost me more to build then what the value is.I feel its alot of money for a big block convertable car with no pedigree. The truth is that is what your buying.Does the car have a pedigee as a true big block.I did not see the auction I wish I did do you have the ebay item number that I could see what it was.My thought are if you are spending this kind of money on a car it must be investment material. And this may be the nicest car in the world and built perfect but as you say what is the real value of the car

I understand it was a 435 hp, original sidepipe car to begin with. 33k miles on the car. Big Block tri power cars are going for quite a bit of money. With the technology and tricks today, it is real tough to tell if anything is real. I have not asked about the tank sticker. I will be able to view the car in about 2 weeks. The car has not been BG or NCRS judged.
