Default Canadian Vettes?

Does anyone know how many '67 Corvettes were exported from the factory to Canada? For those of us who thrive on documentation, Canuck Vettes are a potential gold mine - their gov't requires lots of paperwork, including shipping manifests that list the VIN and associated options, and transfer of ownership forms. GM of Canada will also send you a letter describing a particular Vette that was sold new in Canada, if you send them the VIN. Very interesting, I think.

Kenmo, I don't know about an email address - the letter I have in my car's scrapbook was sent about 15 years ago the old-fashioned way, via snail mail. If you still want that, I'll rustle up the address for you.

If your car was sold new in Canada, call George Zapora, "Vintage Desk" at GM of Canada HQ in Oshawa, Ontario at (905) 644-3387, and he can fill you in on their documentation service; fee is about $35.

Thanks, John. That's the name on the letter I have - interesting that Mr. Zapora would still be doing this sort of work. I'd say it would be a most interesting job!

It really is a small world after all!!!!!!! I called George today (yes, he is a great guy) and was completely blown away by his memory of me and my 67-435. My car was well-known here in Oshawa, Ontario (GM Canadian headquarters town) and George remembered a ride I took him on in 1968....in every detail. I couldn't believe it. He even remembered that I sheared all five wheels studs (right rear) and watched the wheel bounce along into the ditch beside me (sometime in 1969 or 1970 I think).

Here he's been in town all these years (in his current job since the early 90s) and it took the Corvette Forum to get us together again.

I guess a ride in a race-ready 435 really is unforgettable!

P.S. Haven't driven 67HEAVEN for over 16 years (following a blown engine while racing), but the body-off has already started (thanks to my 15-year-old son's urging)

One more thing about George Zapora in "Vintage Vehicle Services" at GM Canada. The phone number posted in an earlier message is to his department, but reaches another person. George's direct line is 905-644-4060.
