Trade my '65 for a Z06?
Went to a local open car show today....150 cars there, mostly rods, very few Corvettes. Anyway, this fellow comes up and comments on how he has always wanted a nice correct midyear...offers to trade his Silver Z06 for my '65 Coupe! I am not interested in selling, but I thought that was interesting...he only has 800 miles on it and is already thinking of getting rid of it! Yep, I will have a c5 soon, but the '65 is a keeper...at least until I get the fever for something else!

I've had several similar offers recently from owners of two different Chevy dealerships to swap even-up any new C5 of my choice, or order exactly what I want, for my Top Flight '57; not interested - mine's a keeper too! Had it at the Woodward Cruise all day today, and it was a people-magnet, as usual :D

gilbybar,
You can find several C-5's on every car dealership lot in town. You can not find one '65. Your car is increasing in value and a real collector. The C-5 is depreciating like a rock.

I think that you need one of each! That's why I have a Z06 on order.
Our local club had a rally this summer, it was about 90 degrees out an I thought I was gonna die in my 62, when in traffic. The tunnel was so hot to make matters worse. Gee, I just don't remember it being that bad when I used to drive it work in Los Angeles bumper to bumper traffic in the early 1970's.
It will be nice to go on a road trip and get 29 MPG in the Z06 vs. 10 MPG with the 4.11 gears in the 62, and I keep looking for a 5th gear.
Don't get me wrong I love the 62, just better suited for short trips, cruise nights, parades, and home commings.

My '65 small block convertible was my sole transportation for 4 1/2 years through south texas summers (with no AC), rain, floods, ect. In May I bought a Z06. I love the AC, handling, and other comforts, but I'll never trade the '65.
My advice: Hold on to your '65, or give it to me. I'll take care of it, I promise.

Keep the 65 and get the Z06 (save for it or if you have the money to go get one right now). My Dad has a 65 396/425 Coupe and just ordered a 2002 Z06. I hope to take the ZO6 to Limerock or Watkins Glen in the Spring to see if it's really that good.
I thought about trading my 67 327/350 for a 2000 C-5, but it's just not same.

I have a 1966 big/block roadster & 2001 Convertable, although the C5 outperforms the 66........there is nothing like a 1966 with side pipes the go cart sensations are missing from he newer Vettes ,although the Z06 is another catagory..............I am contimplating a Z06 , C6 in the future but will never sell my 1966 untill its time for the rest home....... :chevy
