Remanufactured 3810 Holley Carb from Crane
Gentlemen,
Just wanted to let everyone know that I just installed a remanufactured 3810 Holley Carb on my '67 replacing the 1850 universal carb that was on the car. Thought long and hard about taking something off the car that was already working, but I couldn't be happier. The "new" 3810 has really stepped up the jump off the line and car is running like it was meant to. Feels in some ways like a completely new car. It used to sputter on turns once and a while with the old carb. Now it never misses a beat. Couldn't be happier with it, and I just hope it wears well with the years. Kuddos to Crane who sold me the carb, and kuddos to Bryan Craig at Mershon's in Springfield, Ohio for the installation and work. If you live in Ohio and need work on your old vette - call Bryan. He's great.

I've had good luck with Crane's Corvettes - two Holley carbs that were restored and properly date coded. Prices are higher but you get them rebuilt with Holley parts and they work well.

Honestly - $800 (gulp), but it was date stamped 3rd week of February, 1967 and my car was built in April of 1967. The carb was the only piece not properly numbered on my car. So, I was willing to pay a bit more than usual. Seems $2-300 higher than some on ebay. However, as one reader replied, the carb has been rebuilt by Holley, not Crane. They gave me a one year full waranty on the carb. So far, so good.

Holley 3810 rebuilt by Bob Kunz
My '67 ran strong...until wrecked. I still have the rebuilt carb -- absolutely perfect condition, bench tested by the master himself (Bob Kunz). Ready to bolt on a 327 / 350 car. I'd like to sell it soon, as I have a big block now...no need for this carb. At $400, it is half the eprice of one from Crane.

I was just considering to buy one. I also heard that David Crane has good stuff. Current price is not bad when compared to others. Is it remanufactured or new? Am I wrong but it can't be both? They look great, correct finish. But, a knowledgeable NCRS Judge will see the difference, it is not original, a good replacement, points will be lost. The center body on the throttle linkage side is different at the base, and the metering block is not numbered. Anyone else aware other differences?

If you want it, just make the phone call! It's a Holley from '67 with '66 float bowls (so one can adjust the floats). It is a service replacement carb from the 60's rebuilt and bench tested by Bob Kunz. It is not the original carb from the car. I have a big block now and don't have use for this carb.

That's a bargain. Just look at the prices for C1 270HP rebuilt dual quads. Then grab your chest and call the paramedics.
If you got a correct, date-coded, judgeable carb for your car for $800...smile. A rebuilt/replate alone on nearly any carb is $350, correct or not.

What if the carb you get is not a correct judge able carb? As long as the buyer is not expecting to get a restored, correct and original dated carb for his money. As a comparison how much are clone carbs for a 270hp car as compared to originals? They sell restored versions of the clones as well but are much less expensive.
My clone 270hp carbs were $1,400...they ran like a scalded dog out of the box and I've never touched them since putting them on two years back.
My 'real deal' 270HP dual quads (freshly restored by Bob Kunz) are in storage in the garage sitting on a pristine manifold. Not for sale at any price but I see them advertised from $3,500-$4,200.

Any Judges here? How would a Crane replacement stack up against an nice condition original 1974 carb on a 67? The 74 as far as I can see is more correct than the Crane except for the date.
