Default How many amps for fuel pump switch

I am installing a toggle for the electric fuel pump, will a 20 amp switch be enough?

Depends on the pump. My Purolator only needs 4 amps.

If it is a hi amp draw pump use the switch to activate a relay (with 20A fuse directly to the battery). Then any ole switch can activate the relay AND a full 12V goes to the pump!

It is also not a good idea to run a lot more current thru the ign switch circuit!

Thanks, the plan is to either take power from the Batt from the maxi fuse or the batt post on the ign switch to the toggle (20 amp) through the relay then the pump.

The toggle switch for a relay only needs a 1 amp fuse.

Thanks for your responses. I used a hot wire to the switch then to the relay, it should work fine.

bad idea to run that much current through a switch, should be on a relay.
