Default 67 trim plate

My 67 trim code reads 420 , but the vett has and never had the interior changed , it's (Black) all original leather seats. I've had people tell me mistakes were made , has any one els ever had a trim tag number not match the interior also.

Looks like an A.O. Smith typo on the trim tag; the 420 (saddle) interior trim shown on the tag wasn't available with the 977 dark teal blue exterior - only black, white/black, and dark teal blue. Black leather is 402, easy to transpose the 02 as 20.

I have a typo trim tag on the exterior color, off by one digit. Reads 984 (yellow) but should read 984 (green). I have documentation showing the car is suppose to be be green and have had Al Grenning review it and he concurs that it is a typo.

John,
Do you know if it was possible back then to get an interior/exterior combination that "wasn't available". The reason I ask is that in '86 I ordered a Chevy for my wife and we were able to get it in an interior/exterior combination that "wasn't available". As I recall we had to fill out some extra paperwork and practically sign it in blood and attest upon the lives of our children that we did in fact want that particular combination.

Nope - COPO wasn't involved - it was simply a trim combination override ("non-recommended combination") that was approved by the Zone Office; almost any "non-recommended" combination could be ordered, as long as the parts were in the plant.

COPO's were extremely rare on Corvettes - 99.99% of COPO activity was on trucks, school bus chassis, police and taxis, and commercial fleet orders.

On my 65 there are several wires that are routed behing the VIN/Trim bar.

Orange/Black stripe to the glove box light
2 wires (one white, one orange) to the courtesy light near the right kick panel
1 wire go the courtesy light switch in the right door jamb

YEs, years ago I did a body off resto on a 65 conv with 14,000 miles on it. It had been poorly stored, the chassis was rusty and the original paint was scratched up. We repainted the cars but did not touch the jambs. The interior was completly original. No resto done there. The car was Black/Saddle leather but the trim tag showed black/bright blue. The car had all the original weather strips and glue on it. When I got full deduct on the interior at a nat meet, i challenged the judge and got the judging chairman involved. We peeled back the original weather strip and scraped the paint to the glass-no blue. Received full points.

My '67 trim tag shows black leather while my POP shows black vinyl. I have no idea what is correct as I bought the car with the interior all ready "restored" with vinyl
