Outer front caliper half should be 5473796. Perhaps you mistook the '9' for an '8'. (Inboard front s/b xxxx3795). Get an NCRS Tech Info & Judging Guide for such research. I think 4th edition is current for '66 model year.

JohnZ,

You would happen to know the correct casting #'s for a 11/8/66 build date 67 327/300?

Best regards, Sean

Not sure when in '67 the changeover happened from the 1st-design (guided-piston) calipers to the 2nd-design (non-guided piston) calipers, but the 2nd-design caliper casting numbers are:

Front: 5452273 & 5452270

Rear: 5452284 & 5452281

Most Chassis judges don't check the casting numbers anyway - hard to see anything up there lying on your back on the ground.

Thanks... so to clarify, the Front inside 1/2 is 5452273 & outside 1/2 is 5452270? Rear inside 1/2 is 5452284 & outside 1/2 is 5452281?

Default 65 Calipers

The casting # on the rear calipers for my 65 is 5465902. I can't find that casting number on Rockauto. That makes me worry that if I buy those new calipers from Rockauto, I'll be getting equipment that was originally designed for the 66 or 67. (I want everything on the car to be pristine original, whenever possible). Should I buy the 547xxxx casting series from Rockauto? Keep looking for my exact casting number, or try to clean the ones I have? How should I clean them?

It's unlikely you'll find 1st-design caliper castings at Rock Auto, but the high-volume Corvette caliper rebuilders/suppliers have them and can match up a sleeved set for you. You need:

Front outers 5465952
Front inners 5465954
Rear outers 5465905
Rear inners 5465902

They will most likely have already had the internal piston guides machined out and have been built with the 2nd-design pistons, as the 1st-design pistons haven't been available for many years.
