I have just got ahold of a 3720991 blocks and 2 3837109 intakes
Hello, I was lucky enough to save a bunch of parts from the crusher and in doing so I found that block and those intakes. Now does just having them casting numbers make the vette parts or are there other numbers I need to gather and it so where are they located? or better yet can you give me a link to a list of those numbers. And just for fun if they are vette parts what seems to be the going rate for them? Thanks guys..

I also just came across a set of heads number 3725306 56cc that have been ported polished and have stud girdles in place and have had larger valves installed also the stems have been replaced with a thread in stem not the push in ones, this is what I have been told... What would I expect these to go for at auction? I found one site that claimed these to be vette heads for the 265. thanks everyone.

Mike,
The 3720991 block is listed as a '56 265 V8 Corvette.
The 3725306 heads are also '56 Corvette "All 210 & early 225 HP".
The 3837109 cast iron intake are also '56 Corvette 210 HP.
Nice find.

The 306 heads are pretty common, as they were used on passenger cars as well. The 109 intake is pretty common too. The value of the block depends on what is stamped on the front pad. Can you tell us what numbers / letters are stamped on the front pad?
Definitely worth saving from the crusher. Nice find.

"991" block #0548945F56F
0548945F56F indicates this block was originally installed in a Chevy passenger car with a 170 horse power 265 cu in engine with a 2bbl carb and a Powerglide transmission. The engine was final machined and assembled at the Flint plant on May the 6th 1956.
What is the casting date on the right side of the bell housing flange?

Just got another 3720991 block with date code L75 now why does this one only have 3 letters in the code?
Whats going on is an old chevy dealership thats been locked up for 50 years or more as just been bought out (the building) and they are throwing away everything inside into one of those big blue dumpsters that fit on the back of a semi, anyways I got permission to take anything I wanted. well I'm about half way though the dumpster and right now ha ha at 3am I just got another block, as its a race against time when the semis going to show up and haul it all to the scrapper. I got tomorrow off I hope I can get through the rest of it before they come. I plan to get up early to get through it in the morning. But anyways it looks like the guy was a fan of Corvettes as I'm find lots of vette parts, I'm also seeing powerglide trannys???? are they worth saving???? I'll write more when I get more, thanks to you who are giving me info hopefully you can tell me more with the date codes I've given you...

That one's December 7, 1965. The code (for Flint blocks) will be either three or four digits, depending on whether the day of the month is one or two digits. Tonawanda small-blocks will be either four or five digits, as they use two digits for the year portion of the code (Flint blocks only use one digit for the year).
