I must be getting old...I've had this switch in and out at least 5 times over the past 24 years I've owned my Vette but I can't remember how to remove it...
Can someone jog my memory or slap me upside of the skull....
I suppose the headlight switch for a solid axle Vette is similar to a later version. If so, there is a small spring-loaded button on the bottom side of the switch. Pull the headlight switch **** out till it stops. Reach underneath, depress the button, and that should allow the **** to be fully pulled out of the switch. It sometimes takes a little 'jiggling' of the button and **** to get it free. One thing, on a midyear, the switch is actually rotated 90-degrees, so that button I'm talking about is actually sticking out on the 'side' of the switch, not the bottom.
Hope that helps.

Plus, don't forget the slotted special nut on the front of the dash that holds the headlight switch in place.
