Default who has an idle speed solenoid and a part number

I'm looking for an idle speed solenoid to kick up my idle when the AC is running or when the car is cold and needs a little throttle to stay running (no choke)

I have looked around but not found the kind of info I wanted and the parts places are no help anymore...if it isn't in the book and more important not original part they can't find it by description alone it seems.

I have a Demon Carb, but I think most Holly parts will fit or can be made to work without too much effort.

If you have such an item you are happy with I would love a manufacturer name and part number....a picture would help and a place to purchase would be great.

Thanks
Darren

Heh Darren,
I'm in the same boat. I have a Mighty Demon on my 502 and just installed a Hot Rod Air Kit. Kid_Again sent gave me a "NAPA" Number..
22187 Idol Compensator Soliniod.

I had ordered from Summit the Edelbrock version that comes with a bracket...# 8059

http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...N=700+115&x=28
&y=7

Search EDL 8059 on the summit site if the link doesn't work.

The unit is pricy and comes with a bracket for a Holley..about $100.00..!!

I haven't had time to check and see if the bracket will work on the Demon. I'll check it out Saturday. The NAPA unit is $29.00 less the bracket. So I'll see what's what.
Also I'm gonna check ou the Number Magic posted above.

Viet Nam Vette,

I'm checking out the various parts listed here....I am wondering since our mighty demons have throttle levers and idle speed screw on the secondary side if we could not mount the solenoid on that side...looks to me from the photos I might have a problem on the primary side with interference of some other things....

Check out Summit Holley # 20-58 and #20-9 Bracket (Summit Site)
Your BG should have two threaded holes near the driver side mounting flange stud very front ...for the Bracket to attach. I bought both to play around with.

Also Summit for Holley # 46-74 Solenoid two fit the brackets. You'll also need the Nut which they don't supply for around $6-7 bucks. Jeg's sells the Soleniod for $77 and change ..Summit sells it for $81 and change, Summit will match the price.

Thanks Mat... That Soleniod looks like a Non Automotive Solenoid. Meaning ..not designed for the under hood hot enviroment that it will encounter. I'm familiar with the MFG of the device. They are a top shelf company..but I don't think it will last long under the hood with my 502.

Thanks for taking the time to lookk it up.

Mark: I used the same bracket and solenoid as Black_Magic on my Holley 770 Street Avenger. It fits and works perfectly. The GP Sorension solenoid looks just like the Holley part and nothing like the picture on Advance Auto Parts website (where I purchased mine).

the problem i experienced with an idle solenoid was that it did not have enough 'power' to push the throttle linkage back if the linkage was at idle; worked fine if the a/c kicked on and stayed on before the engine dropped back to idle, sucked if it wasn't...

Looks just like the Holley part I just put on the '67 Chevelle...seems to work but there was no adjustment....I just went 'medieval' and bent the bracket to get the solenoid to kick up the throttle at the RPM I wanted...

I have since trashed the Holley 850 CFM that I was using do to the Vac secondary system. It always was so slow in opening up even after I bought the sping kit and cover form Holley.

Started with the White lightest spring and it still ran like crap with the Holley Kit. I finally went to a Barry Grant Mighty Demon without a choke tower and full mechanical secondaries with Idol ez.
circuit.

What a great carb. Once I found the Propper jet combo and accelerator pump squirter size, it runs like a rapped ape.

Never did like the Leaky pot metal Holley carb.

I'm actually getting used to my Holley carb after it's fought me for months to get it tweaked close to correct. Sorta like the dog you bring home that snaps at you for the first couple of months but finally starts to accept you. Maybe I'm just masochistic.
