Default Sad news - we lost one today....

A 54 year old man was killed yesterday when his 1963 Corvette Coupe left the highway north of Halifax...

I did not know this individual but I believe I may have photographedhis car earlier in the year at a local car show and used his image as the source of a digital painting I posted here earlier in the summer. There aren't very many '63 Split Window Coupes around here.

Here's a link to the news story....

http://www.canoe.ca/AtlanticTicker/C...tal-Crash.html

Local tv reposts have stated the car was a 63 Corvette Coupe...

Here's a photo of what I believe was the car totaled...

R.I.P. my Corvette brother....

I thought about that car when I saw your pics many weeks ago. How many SWCs in Nova Scotia? And it had a dealer plate so must have been for sale. A truly sad accident.

Default Crash

Went out with his favorite toy.
Most of my friends thru my life have expected this kind of news from me, but so far, I've cheated the reaper. Glenn

Victim of crash near Elmsdale identified

RCMP have identified the 54-year-old man killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday night near Elmsdale.

Liam David Currie of Halifax was driving his red 1963 Corvette on Highway 102 at about 5:50 p.m. when the car left the road near Exit 8.

The Corvette landed on its roof and Mr. Currie was thrown clear as the vintage Vette had no seatbelts. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Very sad news, my friend.

At least he went out enjoying one of his favorite toys. I hope I can go out the same way rather than wasting away in a hospital bed wracked with cancer or something like that.

Somebody probably replaced the carpets and didn't bother to re-install the seat belts.

Horribly sobering! Our prayer our with Mr Currie and his family. Check your belts, your knock-off spinners regularly, say a prayer and above all be careful out there!

No belts in my 1960. Might be time to make that part of the restoration happen.
