Is it just me?
Please do not take this Personnaly But Is it just me? It seems that anytime I want to attend a Corvette Car Show all I see are the new generation Corvettes. Are ther any Corvette events out there that have the C1, c2, or C3 Vettes that are the domminant marque?

The problem is that whatever you own, you think it's the best! I bought a new '95 Convertible and a new '03 Z06 and used to take them to shows and think "How cool". In fact I can remember being afraid to bring my '95 to shows!
Now that I own a C2, when I go to shows with it and see all of the C6's I can't imagine why anyone would bring one to a show. This is a car that I can go to any Chevy dealer and not only see, but drive!
I like them all, but I think I'm tainted now!

Corvette only car show.
Last one I went to there was one C1, two C2's and one C3. All the rest were 'late models' out of 60 to 70 cars. More older vets show up at our local cruise nite.

If the show is nearby I will drive one of my older cars. If I have to travel any great distance I will drive a newer car. I think alot of people just don't want to drive their expensive, restored cars great distances to shows. Consequently you see more C4,5's and 6's.

I am pretty sure the mid-year Vette is the offical crusing car of the Woodward Dream cruise, I swear there are always about 1000 of them there..........

I go to a Monday night hot rod meet here in CT and usually there are 4-5 hundred cars. We are now being overtaken by Japanese cars. A/K/A tuners. Speakers the size of pizzas and exhaust notes like someone farting through a straw. Maybe "overtaken" is a bit strong but clearly 50% of the cars are represented by these foreign pieces. Of course the sideways hats, copious ink and decending pants are the costume of the day.
At least they relegate them to the swampy area of the grounds. Wait a minute, maybe they're multiplying down there.

C2 of Year Finalist (stock) 2019
It is the same here in Southern NJ and Phila area. Folks with C2's are just not taking them to shows. Darn if I know what they are doing with them. I do see many at the NRCS events.

But I also feel that if you have a C2 that is a driver (like mine) you feel a little intimidated by the C1/C2 NCRS quality cars at the show. If I park next to a car with lots of $$$ poured into it, I am just as guilty as the next guy - I look at that car way more than I look at mine.
But I still wouldn't trade my C2, even though I have a 02 Z06. But then again the Z06 is my real daily driver and it doesn't go to shows or cruises.
Am I rambling or just always this confusing?

Same in Ca. Many people are afraid to drive their C1's because of the $$$ but I always wonder who their saving them for. I drive my 55 when ever I wont , that's the reason I restored it to enjoy and drive.

I think it has a lot to do also with that a lot, read not all.. Corvette owners are not the most mechanically inclined group as a whole. Thus those that pay someone to work on their car or have an unrestored car wish not to drive them long distances out of fear. I have seen it time and time again.
The flip side of that is that there are a lot of restored cars that are trailer queens that if they are driven all of that is prestine may no longer be after a 100 mile trip. We all know how dirty it can be out there in the real world.
With that being said I'm make about a 250 mile round trip tomorrow for a big show in the metropolis of Roanoke Rapids, NC.. I'm surprised that the information had not been posted in the Southeast events section. There are $1000 first prizes for vettes and a few other classes.. See you on the road.

I have drove my '65 8000 + miles this summer, but only went to one show. At local shows you see all the same local cars every time, that gets boring for me. I like to drive my car rather than sit around at a show. But I've only see 3 other C2's on the road all summer. Dave

Hey Bill, or should say the Lone Ranger, don't feel left behind. At a recent Corvette so called get together, I had my hood up. I was speaking to a owner of a 2006, thinking he was into cars, and what was going on. The end of the story is this, I explained to him I had installed a serpentine belt system, he had no clue, and did not understand a word I said, or the significance of it.
I'm sure he doesn't represent the majority.
I guess we all feel left out sometimes, but I can guarantee this, when your stopped, or driving you get more approval noods then the new guy.

In Delaware a great looking '82 Collector Edition pulled up alongside me at a red light (in pouring rain, no less).
In Virginia, a '76 or '77 Roadster (with top down) passed me on 95. That car had S.C. plates, so he must've been on a pretty good trip.
And that was it !!!!!!
Two days (on a weekend) and 1200 miles, you'd at least think you'd get a glimpse of some of the older Vettes. Maybe that's why so many people seemed to get exited (and happy) whenever I stopped for gas, food, pit-stop, etc.

I agree with everything above. Only comment is that I have rarely met a Corvette owner who I would call a real "gear head" (actually built/installed the motor, set up the steering, installed a window etc.)

???? You must mean owner of a new Corvette, because most all Vette owners I know do their own stuff.
