At 50mph you have to raise your voice and at anything over 40mph it is loud enough to dwarf the exhaust note.
Yon need to open your wallet for that noise.

If you decide that is the route you are going to go, be prepared to refurb your cross member and strut rod bushings. Look hard at your axle shaft u-joints, too. Depending where your car has lived, both shock mounting brackets may have to be replaced as well as your camber bolts.
or drive it this summer and look for a good used one, there are lots of guys opting to change out their 3:70 & 3:55 rears for better gas mileage 3:08's. You should be able to get a good used one for $3-$400. they all interchange up to 1979 so lots of choice. We put a '75 rear in my '65 with 3:08's works just fine. If you do go used try to get 1 out of an automatic, better odds that it hasn't been beaten on...
