Installing a turbo 400 into a 67 coupe?
I'm looking for information on the pros and cons installing this transmission. The cars crossmember has already been altered :cry and is presently running a richmond 5 speed with 4:11's.
Specifically are there going to be tunnel clearance problems or shifter location problems  Is it possible to ad some type of overdrive for freeway use?
:chevy

Don't remember the specifics, but there are transmission swap articles in the last two issues of "Vette". I think one of these delt with swapping a 700 into a Midyear or shark. There is a company identified in the article that makes conversion kits/ trans mounts/etc. for this purpose. If you can't find the article, email me and I'll try to find them for you.

My 66 had a 468 with a th400 when I bought it. The th400 was bolted directly to the crossmember. The converter cover (bellhousing) rubbed on the floor near the "firewall" on the driver side, and had worn a small hole in the glass (This car was a road warrior.) The shifter lined up with the hole for the original Muncie shifter. All I had to do to put the 4 speed back was to replace the metal ring that holds the shifter boot. The yoke was a pain and the custom driveshaft had 4 inch Ujoints that also cleared by very little. Putting a load in the car would cause the joints to rub the glass. There was a monster traction master from the pinion mount - under the differential - to the rear spring. It looked like crap, but was very fast on 11 inch wide street tires.
