Grand Sport (and replica) question
Does anyone know how they mounted the headlight in the original (or any of the replica) Grand Sprots? I'm considering using the bulkhead and buckets from a quad-light C-1 grafted into a custom back panel. Is the headlight center-to-center spacing the same on the C-1's and the stock C-2 flip lights?
JohnZ - do you have any good close-up of the headlights on your car I can add to my Grand Sport photo archive?
Thanks - Greg

Thanks, I've already got it. I couldn't tell much detail on the light installation from the photos (at least unless I missed something which is quite possible).

Greg,
Email a guy named Jim Lockwood. His email is jmlckwd@mindspring.com. I hooked up with him on the VetteNet. He's done a GS. Tell him you got his email from the guy who sold him the grill for his side vents. He's very knowledgable on the GS's. I'm winging the email address, but let me know if it's not correct and I'll find the right one when I get home tonight.

Let me check my photo archives for the Grand Sport and I'll get back to you; as I remember, on the D&D I built, the headlight adjuster screws/anchors riveted directly to the formations in the fiberglass, and there was a flat aluminum plate (a headlight "bezel", if you will, with two big holes in it for the lamps) on each side that attached with screws to dress out the area behind the clear plastic covers. All you saw through the covers was the two lamp lenses and the aluminum plate.

I don't have a good picture of that area before I installed the lights, but I know that the plastic anchors that contained the headlight adjuster/retaining screws had a flange at the base with two holes, and I pop-riveted them in place (with a reinforcing washer on the back); I had to fabricate a small anchor bracket for each lamp to hold the base of the retaining spring, and riveted those to the fiberglass as well.
