Mary Jo Rohner's catalog shows 56-61 are the same and 62 are different.

Hope that helps.

The early posts have a ridged or "serrated" face, on the forward facing side that buts up against the windsheild frame- I think the serrations possibly help hold the weatherstrip in place. Seems I recall the same face on a 62 door post is smooth - no serrations.

That being said, amongst the early (56-61) serrated door posts, there are several variations - so I would do my homework here. The 62 doors posts are unique.

Been many years since I had a C1.

I think "Dr Rebuild" has a good explanation of C1 door posts and the differences in rubber seals in his catalog!

When I was looking for non-pitted replacements for my '60, I ran into the closed top versions from 56-58 and later versions like the ones on my 60 (59-60?) with the open channel per the photos below. Not sure when they changed or what the 61-62 ones look like. Maybe JohnZ or someone else can help.

This pic shows the side that goes up against the windshield posts where on the 56-58 style (driver side post) on the right the top is closed in and the newer style (pass side post) on the left with the top that is open to allow the weatherstip to wrap around to the window channel side. Note the serrated edges mentioned above on both posts.

This pic shows the same two posts lying on the chrome side that faces out when mounted on the door looking from the top of the post down. Again notice the closed-in top portion on the 56-58 driver post on the right as apposed to the newer 59-60? pass post on the left with it cut out.

I was able to trade the older driver post to a buddy (Harps on this forum) for a newer one he got in the parts with his '56. Hope this helps those looking for these.
