Default Fire Extinguisher mounting '64

So I purchased the seat mounting kit for my halotron setup and look like the passenger seating movement in restricted when installed. What other locations have you guys mounted them?

That's what the ad says on the Vetteworx site.

I put self adhesive velcro pads on mine and stuck it to the bulkhead and wellcover carpeting behind the passenger seat - cheap and easy to install and access -plus I don't have to look at it or fight with it in the footwell when I am the passenger.

It may be difficult to see but mine is mounted below the glovebox. It's not out of sight but it's handy and doesn't seem to interfer with the passenger's legs. However, I really need a nice chrome Halon one to look a little classier.

That is true but how often is the seat moved? In my case never.

As Paul says, "How often is the seat moved"? My wife is 5' 3" and prefers to have the seat all the way back. Gives her room for her "stuff" when we go for a ride.

Paul,
Did you fabricate your own bracket or did you purchase the bracket from Vetteworks?

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Dan,

You mounted yours the same as I did. Do you really want a chrome one??? I have one. Still in the box. It would need to be recharged and that is expensive. Let me know.

Did mine this way also. Its fast, easy, and cheap. No drilling holes in your car and its out of site, yet very easy to access.

Adhesive velcro pads. That's what I did too. Works great.

Don't keep moving it around, though. Put it in place and leave it. Each time you pull it up, it breaks some of the carpet loops. After a while, the carpet will look "fuzzy" in that area. Once you stick it in place, you shouldn't need to yank it up unless there's a fire. (And if there's a fire, fuzzy carpet is the least of your concerns.)

I got the bracket and extinguisher from Dan at Vetteworks about four years ago. I originally purchased the dry chemical type but after reading here of the mess/corrosion it causes I switched to halotron two years ago.

kinda what I did - I took a piece of double-sided velcro ( the sort where one side sticks to the other side) and secuded the extinguisher's supplied mounting plate against the jack cover by looping that velcro through the thumbhole, over the mounting plate and to the nearby edge of the cover. Keep the extinguisher very close at hand, but behind the storage area edge (won't go flying if I hit something head on) and out of the passenger footwell.

although I am almost never ever the passenger in my 65

I just mounted mine underneath the glovebox on the frame where the dataplate is located. I used a couple of large hose clamps to hold the mount in place. As it is tucked up under the dash, it doesn't cramp the passenger.

I installed my chrome extinguisher to the '65 glove box frame also. I used 4 black zip ties. Snugged them up tight. No drilling or Velcro tape. Out of the way, actually looks good and handy location to boot. Sully
