The Lime Book, and the associated Lemon Book, have both been out of print for a while.
I keep telling myself that I will resume printing one day, but that day never seems to come.

Entire engine code is 3737739, date code is A178, has a steel nitrided and crossdrilled crank #3735236 , and x58 twin tower heads. I can't believe it started life as a 2 bbl

They didn't use x58 heads on 2 bbl vehicles and I still can't find a "P" suffix.also the 739 code used on trucks is not the 3737739 code. So much for just using last three digits.

A good friend bought a nice '59 over 20 years ago. It had a 400 small block in it at the time and ran extremely well. Shortly after buying it, he decided to remove the 400 and replace it with a correct 283. It took him over 6 months to find a 283 block that was suitable for rebuilding even back then. He actually bought 3 blocks before finding one that was worth rebuilding.
I personally would much prefer a 283 from a truck suitable for rebuilding over one that needs major machine work or even resleeving. Needless to say, good 283's are becoming very scarce.

Are you sure the mains are cross drilled? Is the hole straight through each main journal?

No, not straight through and as i recall not every main. Curiouser and Curiouser? And again on the suffix "P", I can't find a p code by itself and they don't occur till years later.
