ZZ4/Tremec project update (pics)
Just about there
Engine compartment complete except throttle linkage rod and bolting on side pipes.
Hope to fire it up later today and check for leaks, set timing etc and let it run for a while. Would like to try out new clutch & Tremec but still have interior items to work on. AND LOTS OF CLEANING

WOW....that's a lot of BLING! Very nice work and looks great. You will like the Tremec. I put one in my 65 coupe and what a difference. Takes a few hundred miles to break in the stiff shifting but a great upgrade to the Muncie.

George looks great.
I'm getting real serious my self about the trans. I just finished putting mine together last May, and did everything I could think as I rebuilt it. I bought it as a kit car so to speak and never had a chance to drive it, it was in boxes and pieces when I picked it up about 4 years ago.
I'm having trouble trying to figure out what the rod is below your filter in your pics. Is it the rod that accurates the clutch
On the highways and byways I have to cruise at 3000 rpm + just to stay up.
I enjoy driving mine alot, and I know you will also.

The dual-quad manifold and small air cleaner posed a few problems and after numerous mockups I finally made a decision.
First of all access to a port on a carburetor was in the front of the front carb and I didn’t want to run a hose to the rear of the block.
Second there wasn’t lots of space to tap into the valley and be able to get a fitting inserted and have access to.
Here is what I came up with:
Drilled and tapped manifold and screwed in 90 degree fitting then added a baffle on the bottom side. Again not a lot of space so I used 2 different diameter aluminum pipes and put on an aluminum plate as a cover. This is the input side and I probably didn’t need but it won’t hurt. Then run hose from under distributor under accelerator lever and up along side ballast resistor and add a small K&N filter.
Used stock ’65 oil fill tube and added inline PCV valve to front carb base

I saw a smudge on the top of the air cleaner and also one on the clutch rod!! What a piece of junk!! Guess I'll hafta come over and take it away from you....... J.K., shows lots of work and dedication. Beautiful......What hood are you using?

A stock SB hood will work as that is what I'm going to use BUT just in case I have '67 BB hood in the basement that need paint.

Didn't get to fire it up untill this afternoon. Just a I was ready yesterday we got out twin grandbabies to watch for the night Much better the working on Vette
BUT today double check everything and hit the key ---- Started right up and was idling about 18-1900 RPM, good oil pressure (60+) timing was off a little and NOTHING LEAKING. Set timing close and idle ~700 and let it run for 15+ minutes to heat up. Still no leaks and everything else seem to be working Sounds great and NO SMOKE
Tomorrow will start up again and set everything to spec and recheck torque on intake & exhaust manifolds.
I’m ready to go for a drive BUT no seats or steering wheel as I’m adding Dynamat to roof and rear area. After that I need to get alignment and go for initial test run

I have been "lurking" on the forum for awhile now. I am currently in the market for a 66 roadster, and as you can see by my name, it will need to have side pipes. The pictures of your ZZ4 project were so great that I was compelled to go ahead and register, just so that I could congratulate you on one heck of a nice project. WOW! Very nice. I can't wait to read how it runs when you hit the road. This is exactly what I'd like under the hood of mine when I ultimately do pull the trigger. Just incredible!
