Default Will a '70 LT1 intake fit a '65 s.b.?

Hi, I have a '65 327 Coupe,

motor casting # 3782870 327 '62 to '67
head# 3890462 B186 302,327,350 64cc '66 to'67
intake# 3972116 GM Winters Holley, hi-rise service replacement for '70 LT1 350.

Will this intake clear a stock small block hood? And if so, which air cleaner set up would I use? The 365hp air cleaner?

Sure, if you use the '65-'66 BBC hood or the '67 BBC hood. I think it is slightly higher than the 365 hp manifold but not much (1/4 inch?). With the 365 hp air cleaner or with the open element 350 air cleaner, especially from a '68 or '69, you may clear with the SBC hood.

Whatever you do, do now put a air cleaner stud in there and drop the hood until you check with some rolls of clay in various spots for clearance.

At one time I had the cast iron version of the LT-1 on my '64 and the stock hood would not close, even with a Corvette drop base air cleaner. Also the Performer RPM wouldn't clear.

A BB hood solved these problems and let me run a spacer plate and bigger, 14"x4" air cleaner.

The 67-72 Z28 and 70-72 LT-1 alum intake manifolds are the same and are also the tallest FACTORY Chevrolet hi-rise manifold ever used on a production engine. The 67-68 version of the manifold had a very slightly different configuration at the front of the manifold, but otherwise the 67-72 manifolds are the same.
You GOTTA have hood clearance for these babies!
Also, since they are of the Gen I small block design, they will fit any SB engine all the way back to 1955 (of course, the intake runners are much bigger than the early intake ports on the heads).

I had the LT-1 intake on my '64 327/365 motor for several years. It worked just fine, though the air filter was a drop base with 3' element.

Dave: Did you have a stock small block hood on your '64? Are you sure it was the LT1 intake?
