Default My Resto Rod 1957 has offically started

My Resto Rod 1957 project has finally started. The frame is from Bill Dawson (Corvette Correction). I ordered the new LS3 with GM wiring harness. It has a 6 speed and a Dana 44. The frame arrived Friday night and by Saturday night I had the body on it and had begun working on getting other things ready. I lifted the body with an engine hoist. It was a family event, everyone spotted a corner while we moved from one frame to the other. Stay Tuned for more.

Wow, looked like a great car to begin with. Love the Cascade Green, that will be the color on my next 57. Should be a screamer, I really want to do a 57 rod, just haven't found a way to do it without cutting up a stock body.

Owen,

I saw your chassis last time I was over at Billy's shop, so I knew you would be a happy camper soon! You have chose one of the best chassis out there.

Thank you all for the nice comments.

The car will be very fas, probably too fast.......

I drove a 1956 with an LS2 that Bill had at the NCRS Old Town meet and it was a machine. I can not wait to get this beast on the road. I am building it to look stock, so the interior will be original looking with modern equipment.

John,

I am very happy with the frame and engine combo. Bill is a class act to deal with. I knew once I drove one of his cars that I had made the right decision. So now that you are done your Mid year Resto Rod what are your plans for a build?

Cheers, oWEN

Wonderful looking project. It's especially impressive that you're doing it without having a Garage Mahal to work in!

Thanks,

Because our Garage Mahal is currently full with projects in progress (My Father sold his house and moved everything into the shop). We have been forced to do this job at another location we have.

Owen,

I am thinking about a 67 Chevelle wagon with Corvette running gear and a LS3 engine! I need to get back to work first though, as I am going into my 10th month of being unemployed! I am hopeful that I have something on the hook, and should know soon. I was up at Billy's a couple of days ago, to show him the midyear, and he had 3 of the new 480 hp LS3 engines stiing in the crates. That engine should be SICK!
