Default Charlton Heston drove a Corvette...

One of his friends told a story about Heston driving his Corvette too fast and getting pulled over by a cop. The traffic cop just wanted to thank him for fighting TimeWarner over the Cop Killer song.

Anyway, anyone know what generation Corvette Heston drove?

Not to hijack this thread, but so did the Navy SEAL who was awarded the metal of honor at the white house today. He died in Iraq after diving onto a live grenade to save his comrades. Just noticed when I read the news story it said he had a shiny Corvette.

Both great Americans.

I remember reading an article on Charleston Heston in a mgazine a long time ago and he said (if my memory serves me right) that it was a black convertible. I do not remember if it was a C1 or a C2, but it would have been a 1958 to 67. I got the impresson that one reason he really liked the car was that he fit in it, so my guess it was at least a 61. I don't know how many he had.

Default At least I know he drove a C5 and a C3...

I have the 1969 C3 Corvette that he drove, have original plate and address on registration where he lived in US. He probably had more corvettes too..

Well, back in 1975 down here in Australia, I bought a '71 LT1, Ontario Orange /saddle leather that was reputed by the salesman to have been owned by Charlton Heston. Of course it could have been bul*^#t, and probably was. It didn't influence my decison to buy the car, but I've sure recounted the story a few times over the years.

Was it this methanol powered one?

House Majority Leader Jim Wright D-Texas (L) and actor Charlton Heston (R-holding gas tank) pour "Methanol" into the actor's Corvette October 18, 1983 in front of the Capitol. Heston donated his "Methanol" powered Corvette to the Renewable Energy Resources lobby group. (UPI/File)

hehe, it is true, I have the registration plates can send up picture as I also have all the paper work on that he was the first owner, I didnt buy it from him offcourse, It could well have been the one on the picture, but I dont think so, the engine has been changed from the original 427 to a 1972 454... but checking the dates from when he had the methanol engine in that car and the papers I have they dont match... he probably had a lot of corvettes... same as the C5 he had...

Thanks...

PD. send me the pen with the teeth marks.. ;-)

Can you say "Publicity Photo"? Notice the gas cap is still in place, not to mention where all that methanol would go if they did attempt to pour it that wa˙!
