Are 3973487X heads any better than other large chamber SBC heads?

Original 1972 K10
My 3973487X heads appear to be original on a 72 PU, the motor had the original style GM steel shim head gaskets when I tore it apart. The block was stamped with a TDR code, for a 72 4wd PU. The young man I purchased the motor from, stated this motor ran much better than the generic 350” he replaced it with. I got my info on the stamping from Nasty Z28.com.
