The 340 hp and fuel injected cars had a ballast resistor with a blck dot on one end. The others had a blue stripe on one end.

Default resister

the blue stripe is for 250hp and 300hp motors the black dot for high horse
motor. I need to know where to put the black dot. It's either on the front of the holder or on the holder next to the screw.

If the car was built prior to February, 1963, there will be no identification mark of any kind on the resistor. The TSB (#DR-577) changing the resistors was issued in February '63, and added the blue stripe to the new (1957154) 1.8-ohm resistor, and added the black dot to the old (1931385) 0.3-ohm resistor.

The blue stripe was across the end of the ceramic ribs, and the black dot was on the forward-facing flat on the bracket (I have the GM drawing with the note adding the black dot); photos below.
