Pegged the speedo yesterday
Figure about 170 MPH, 6800 RPM.
Six times.
On the chassis dyno of course, but at least i got to see the needle all the way over. And yes, the exhaust sounds good at almost 7K RPM with the H pipe.

Doug, about on the road? Today, I took my bone stock, but restored '62 up 110mph. It was steady but felt like it could get skittish. Not a real secure feeling. It got there pretty quickly, but I got out of it for safety sake. I was using a GPS for my speedo, since I know it is more accurate than the actual speedo. I seem to remember a previous '62 I had, felt firmly planted up to the 130mph, when I got out of it. Of course I have to remember, that was 30yrs. ago when I was 25. Any experience on how a C1 feels at speed? I am running stock rims with 215 radials on them.

Many years ago, with the old 327 motor, I took it to 130 on a Montana interstate.
Car felt real solid at that speed, even with worn out front suspension.
I generally don't do faster than 85 anymore on a highway, though i had it to a little over 100 doing some street(freeway) tuning last week. Car handled fine.
Maybe Bonneville some year....

I could only get 1/2 throttle opening because of that goofy set up of mine. I used a Lokar bracket and then I bent it and twisted it to suit. Dumb! Because of only 1/2 throttle opening, we got 230hp and 330 ft lbs....
So after that mess, I made a new throttle bracket out of billet.....much better, almost looks stock...well if stock could look that way
After I get the fuel pump block off breather sorted out I will be back to the dyno to get it fully tuned and find out the final numbers....
170mph?? YIKES

My dyno place has a Dynapack unit.
No stupid dangerous rollers, you take the wheels off and bolt the hubs up to these hydraulic boxes/pumps that measure the torque, the Dynapack has four boxes so it can measure FWD cars also. Since it doesn't use roller inertia, you can use it for doing decel and cruise condition tuning also.

Yes, I actually parked my butt on the left box unit to watch the speedo during a couple of the runs. Didn't vibrate or move or anything.
The Dynapack is far safer than rollers, you don't have to chain the car down, and the car can't get sideways on you. Much more versatile for tuning also..
You jack teh car up, remove the wheels and bolt these gizmos on the hubs that have internal splines that stick out about maybe 14", then you rolls the boxes up and seat the splined hubs into the boxes and lock them down onto the splined hub extensions.
