I really enjoy looking at these old photos of the corvette race cars. I campaigned a '63 split window in the late 90's. It was a B/Altered car and we entered it in a IHRA Pro Gas class. This was a Texas regional division. We had a blast with the car.

Nice gasser I noticed in the photo you still had the gastank/soft top cover in place with the roll bar, did you fab your own roll bar? I'm looking into adding a roll bar to my 57. I'm also curious if you have any forward or rearward supports.
thx Brian

H Brian. My bar came from S & W Race cars. Pre-bent to fit, but still need to be notched for fit and welding. The cross bar that comes with it is straight and will not work with the stock seats (or maybe any seats for that matter) so they have an optional bar that you can buy that bends back behind the seats. I have two bars going back, but nothing forward at this time. Depending on how fast the car goes, I may have to add two door bars. They will be removable as these cars are hard enough to get in and out of without any bars in them. Here is the link for S & W along with a couple pics of mine, installed. Let me know if you need any more info. Good luck.

Here is a short video of the 57 . Been up and running since June. 454 runs great, trans feels good, steering is great and brakes are perfect. Blast driving it. Probably put a thousand miles on it this summer. I'll get the 57 Olds rear end ( 4.11's on a spool/35 spine axles) in before next spring, than it will be off to the track. Feels like it could runs 11.50's or so. Time will tell.

Default Orange metal flake car.

Last saw that car in Jefferson NH. Owners name was Balog. Moved to NHL from Ma. He wanted $36 k for the car at the time. Sold it and someone on this site now owns it. Dave
UOTE=Baron;1588439534]Here are a couple of survivors from the sixties.

And this one has become strictly a race car over the past few years.

And this surfaced this past year, and is being restored as the drag car it was.

Baron the car is looking great and has a great stance, Had a good summer running mine in the stick shift class, I have wondered also what happen to all the race corvettes, seems like they have been restored back to stock and now they are all original and never been modified, if these cars could talk I think some of the owners would be quite surprised on how they were treated.

Thanks JP. When you look back on the old Hot Rod mags, there were a ton of Corvette race cars. They were inexpensive (paid $750.00 for my first 1957 Corvette in 1971) plentiful and made great race cars.
You certainly have to be happy with the numbers you are running in your car. Running low nines with the 4 spd in your car is awesome. Looking forward to running mine this coming year. Shooting for mid 11's ,but we'll see.
