Water Pump Gaskets.. Again. I Give Up
#41
use the thinnest gasket you can find so it can not compress over time and lose bolt torque and use non hardening pematex. never use RTV. I have made the gaskets out of a manila folder material that held up well

Over 45 year span I have changed water pump gaskets for pump replacement, engine work, etc, but never once for a wp gasket leaking on its own. If motor mounts are good and properly torqued it will not "twist" the mounting of the wp. Use good gaskets, make sure all surfaces are flat and bolts of the proper length. Use permatex #2, insert top bolts first to ensure alignment, then tighten (I have never torqued them)

ONCE AGAIN, this problem was over 8 years ago. He probably doesn't need the advice any more.

You could say that about every thread. The best way to get help is to post a new thread to get current help.
