Hi John,

Me too....I am thinking of the same thing and actually just looked at the Edelbrock section last night at www.summitracing.com to see what package they recommend. I remember Edelbrock/Summit does have a recommended camshaft to go with the dual quads.

Let us know how the carbs work out.

Someone on this forum had shown pictures regarding their Edelbrock carb install and it was noted by another forum member that there was interference with the hood when using the air cleaner setup he had (filter element squished). Don't know if he was using the Edelbrock air cleaner and filter.

I have dual Carter 500CFM AFBs on an Offenhauser manifold (350 CID SBC with forged pistons and crank, headers, etc.). Strong runner and is trouble free. The rear carb is very close to the dist., so some playing around was necessary. The Edelbrock manifold puts the carbs closer to each other, so that should not be an issue.

I don't have the specifics of the cam, but know it is hydraulic, has .483" Intake / .477" lift Exhaust, and "about" 230 duration at .050" lift (all as measured). Winds well past 6K with 1/4 turn adjustment on lifters (proper valve springs is key here).

I installed 5/16" thick insulator gaskets between carbs and manifold (due to carb percolation issues with ethanol), as well as blocked off the heat riser passage in the intake. With that I ended up modifying an oval air cleaner base for dual carbs (I have a machine shop) and it turn out well. Use a 2" high air cleaner element, and my air cleaner top is a top ribbed version, and it clears the hood by 5/16" minimum. I have used the Mr. Gasket 2 small chrome air cleaners as well (for a different look), and they clear as well.

One trick I learned is that you want to adjust your idle off both carbs (but still run progressive linkage!). Harder to adjust that way, but much better results.
