HELP! With a 66 Engine Wiring Harness
Just installed a new Lectric Limited engine harness into a 66 BB, 4 speed.
Car does not have the original motor. It has a 68 396 in it now. Transistor Ignition was eliminated by prior owner. My question is this?
Wiring harness has a double pink wire and a single pink wire (one is for
the resistor which I do not have on my car and one for coil, I think) can somebody tell me which pink wire goes where?

The double pink wire should be the one for the resistor. You will need to tie them together or use the hot one for your ignition setup. The single comes from your starter. It is to bypass the resistor for starting.

The two pink wires crimped into a single U-spade connector go on the coil (+) terminal. The single pink wire goes to the top of the resistor (the pink wire from the ignition switch that comes through the firewall hole with the wiper motor wires goes to the bottom of the resistor).

What you say makes sense and I understand. However, the car was running before I replaced the engine harness. How could it have started without the resistor?

The resistor just reduces the current to the coil from 12V to 7-8V to improve point longevity; the engine will run if the resistor is bypassed, but the points will burn sooner and the coil will eventually fry.
