National Drive Your Corvette To Work Day

It is pouring rain today, with a strong possibility of HAIL. The rain kills any idea of the burnout. The hail kills any possibility of leaving the garage.
Perhaps if I had Ray's thought control helmet, I could take control of the Universe, and....The weather would change, the Vette would get 40 MPG, and they would build a drag strip that didn't take 5 hours to get to, and the Vette would go 10s, on pump gas.
BtW, since Ray's car is air conditioned, his words concerning stop and go are spoken with the bravery of being out of range. LOL

I would drive to work but I just can't leave the vett alone unprotected in the parking garage to get dinged or scratched. I only take the vett out if I will be with it the whole time. I just love my vett that much. So it will stay in my garage untill I get home and then I'll take it to the little friday care show.

Where is everyone?
I did not see another 'Vette on my drive in to work in the Reno / Sparks area today! OK with me, I love driving my car in the morning! Nice and cool, always fun!

You said the other day that if you drove your Corvette to work that it would have to stay out in the parking lot. Did you leave the keys in the ignition ? If so, I would like to get your address. Ha !

Drifting
I did see a C6 coupe that I don't normally see, parked at a fire station - yellow with some Michael Andretti nose-cone markings.
My route home takes me by the Stanley Park seawall, and on a sunny Friday, it'll make for some good people watching.

Word to Rava! We drove the C5 to lunch (Nic say's Hi), Got waves from a Torch Red Roadster, and a MY coupe w/purple stripe. Your's is the only Mid-year I've seen today, though.
Also thought I'd mention, there being a national Harley gathering in OKC this weekend, have you noticed how many good looking women are riding Harleys these days?

Torrential rain in Tampa is keeping my car in the garage this year. Too bad, I was looking forward to it.

By the way, nice to see Corvette owner's with the other generation cars posting on the early car forum section. Deep down, all generations of Corvette owners are the same, we're all masochists !

Didn't work today but I did drive the Vette to pick up some parts for it, and spent some time under the hood until heavy rain chased me. But gotta mention for Ray - by coincidence, I'm wearing my Wormy Dog Saloon T-shirt today.

Now there's a man who had spent some time in Bricktown ! (drinkin' at The Wormy Dog, no less).
Since I didn't work today, and we got a heavy storm besides, I've designated tomorrow "Drive Your Vette And DON'T Go To Work Day!"

Ray, it is a '55, who needs keys? No locking steering, no door locks either... Hot wire and away... Fortunately, I park by the loading dock and the warehouse guys keep an eye on my car. Took it to a small local car show last night and someone splattered it with ketchup. Safer by the dock.

That's punishable by hanging or public flogging, isn't it?

Okay, looks like I'm ready to commit my final tribute to this National Holiday. It's after 8pm (CST) and I am just now leaving work so after a long hot day (I didn't even get to take Los NoisyAss StingRay for a spin at lunch) I'm headed east, away from the sun with the a/c on taking that last ride. Maybe I'll see someone on I-44 or I-35 on the way home and throw a salute, the salute that all who celebrate this fine day deserve. And a middile finger to the guys in the Porsches ! Ha !

Thanks for the holiday designation, Don. I'm taking your advice, I'm staying away from work and I'm taking the '66 for a cool early morning spin. Thank you for this bit of "convenient legislation".
