Vent window frame chrome: Acceptable?
I just got my vent window frames rechromed and the drivers side has an issue. It looks like it was chromed right over a rough area. It's on the inside at the lower corner. It is visible after installation. I took some pics, but it's hard to get a good image.
I don't like it, but maybe I'm just nitpicking
Tell me what you think
Thanks,
Gerry

Not acceptable. The place probably does not do too many cast pieces (if they do, then they are not very good). The problem is if they grind down too far you have a distorted piece. The only proper method is to grind down and then build it back up with solder. It takes some skill and you have to make sure the plater does this as their normal course of operation. In otherwords don't let a place "try" and do it. I've have too many pieces ruined when a place says the "think they can do it".
Who was the plater for your vents?
