Default oil for richmond 5 speed

Can anyone with a 5 speed richmond tell me what oil (synthetic or organic) do you use for it. also what weight. The previous owner used redline synthetic but I can't seem to find synthetic manual transmission fluid. I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience or knew what the manufacturer recommended?

Richmond sells their own brand of synthetic lubricant. You can order it from Summit and a number of other places.

The question could possibly be: "I know that I can buy Richmond lubricant, but what can I buy locally (Castrol/Valvoline/etc.) that is also the correct lubricant?"

Thats a good idea. I found it Richmongear.com. I was hoping someone might have some actual experience between synthetic and non synthetic. I'll see what Richmond has to say.

I have a Richmond 5sp that's been in my 455 Cutlass over 20yrs.
I filled it with the SAME lube that goes in my Muncies, 80w90 GL4.
GL4 is sometimes difficult to find. It is recommended that GL4, NOT GL5, be used in these kinds of trannys because of the deterioration GL5 causes to yellow metals (ie brass syncro rings).
NAPA sells Staylube GL4, that's where I buy it by the gal (I have a 5gal pump dispenser).
The Richmond 5sp in the 455 Cutlass IS NOT babyed. After 20+yrs, ZERO problems!

One of the main reasons I posted this is that the gears (mainly second) seems to be harder and harder to get into over the last few years. My pilot bearing was warped when I pulled the engine out so that might be it or maybe it is just the hurst shifter. But I wondered if going from redline synthetic transmission fluid that was in it to a fluid like you mention might be better.
