Default What years will 62 wheels fit?

What years will the original wheels from a 62 fit? Were they used before 57 and after 62?

All 53-62 Corvette use a 15x5 wheel. Late 55 or 56 through 62 use the same basic wheel, with the nubs around the inside edge of the rim to mount the wheel cover. These wheels can be found with the center spider welded in or riveted in. The 62 Chevrolet parts book shows passenger cars with the police package using the same wheel. I don't of any application for these wheels after 62, though full size police (and taxi?) may have continued to use them?

53 used the 49-54 passenger car wheel without the small center hub cap retainers installed. 54-55 used a wheel just like the 62, but without the nubs.

The bolt pattern for Corvette wheels is the same from 53 to 82 and was shared with many other Chevrolets from 49 on.

What about back spacing! I have seen a few C-1's that had "stock" steel wheels, that looked offset toward the inside of the body, when others were more offset to the out side of the body. Is it do to back spacing?

The back spacing was the same on all 53-62 wheels. I must be having a senior moment because I can't remember what it was or find it listed in any reference material I have here (I've got another birthday later this week, we'll just blame it on that!). I think it was the same as later years though, 3 3/4".

My post about the police wheels is incorrect, too (I told you, senior moment). The Corvette wheel shared with the police package was the optional "wide base" 15x5.5 wheel, not the standard 56-62 15x5 wheel.
The 15x5.5 can be used on 63 & 64 Corvettes, also. The 15x5.5 has the same backspacing as the 15x5 wheels, but doesn't have the nubs for full wheel covers. These wheels only came with the small "dog dish" caps on Corvettes.
