Default L79 alternator pulley

Any recommendation for where to buy an alternator pulley for a 66 L79 with no ac no ps. I need the one with the 1/2 or 3/4 inch spacer so the belt lines up on the rearward wp pulley. LIC, P-C, CC, Eck all have conflicting (to me) descriptions and photos. Installed is 1100693 with 3124387 pulley (not the right one). I need the 3871242, right?

Default Have You Tried Paragon Reproductions?

They specialize in C1-C2-C3 parts and I've found they usually have anything I need.

The correct pulley is a 3829387 AI. My Oct 65 parts book calls out the 242 pulley. If you can find a way to line up a 242 pulley on your car please show me. All of the no power judged cars I have seen use the 387. That's what I chose to use. They line up great on the back pulley. Call Long Island Corvette.

Alternator pulley, 3 5/8" O.D., zinc plated. 1963-65 w/327 and mechanical lifters. 1966-71 w/427, 454 and P/S.
GM Part Number: 3829193 $37

I purchased this pulley to use on my '63 with only an alternator. Two groove on the water pump and two groove on balancer. I'm using a Stewart water pump and the pulley did not quite line up so I had to press the water pump pulley mount on the shaft a very small amount and the pulleys now line up perfectly. Inner groove is for water pump, crank and idler pulley. Outer groove is water pump crank and alternator.

GM Part Number: 3829387
Alternator pulley, 35/8" O.D., zinc plated. Part # 3829387 and code AI as original. Usage: 1965-69 & 1971 (as follows) 1965-68 w/327 Sp.Hi.Perf. and hyd. lifters. 1965 w/396 Sp.Hi.Perf. 1966 w/427 Sp.Hi.Perf. 1966-69 w/427 exc. P/S, and w/o A/C. 1969 w/H.D. 1971 w/454 Sp.Hi.Perf. exc. P/S.

This pulley does not have the extra offset of the 3829193 pulley.

Good luck... GUSTO

Default Correct L79 Alternator Pulley

Does anyone know the factory correct alternator pulley for my L79 with PS - no AC? The 1966 Factory Assembly Manual and the NCRS JG are in conflict. Thanks

If you use the pulley with the built in spacer, then your belt will line up with the forward groove on the other 2 pulleys. The 387 pulley is the correct one to use if you want to line up with the most inward groove on the water pump and crank pulleys, unless your water pump & crank pulleys are the wrong ones. If using the pulley with the built in spacer will line your alternator belt up with the rearward most groove in the WP & CS pulleys, then somehow, your alternator is mounted too far back, or your WP & CS pulleys are way too far forward. Maybe you meant to say "forward groove" instead of "rearward groove" ???

Thanks Ron, the belt configuration diagram in the 1966 Factory Assembly Manual shows the L79 WP, CS and alternator running off the inner most (closes to the block) pulleys. The outer grooves connects the CS, WP and PS unit. The NCRS judging manual does notspecifically mention an alternator number but states its a two-piece configuration. So if the CS and WP pulleys are correct the #3829387 should be the correct alternator pulley. What's confusing me is the assembly manual list GM #3875968 which is a one-piece unit.
