OK, I did some examining and...I definitely see differences.
I have included a photo of GS 002 blue and Wintersteen.
1. The flares are completely different.
2. The Blue # 38 albeit awesome looking, seems to have the front end slightly lowered. On the real 002 it is very straight. Also, the fairing on the roll bar looks more rounded on the real 002.

I agree that the nose does look a bit lower, but I suspect that's a little "bonus" from Duntov to decrease lift on the nose of the car. Most participants take vintage racing very seriously, and there's a lot of cheating that goes on. I seriously doubt that the techs at those events really know what's what anyway...especially on a car as rare as the GS.
Duntov got away with running the while coupe for years, and it's nose was seriously drooped.
With the exception of the big nose droop on the Duntovs, I think you have to cut the bodies a little slack, because those original cars were so beat-up in races that most of the repairs were hasty, and there weren't any templates to go by........so most of the cars varied considerably in overall body accuracy.

I agree completely. And there are more differences than you have noted.
The blue car looks like its body is from Jeff Leech at Mid America and not at all like it's made from the molds Bob Ash created for #002.

The rear flares are similar but if you closely examine the front end then you can see a difference. The Mid America front clip is very straight and not angled down like #38

What I see are features that are intrinsic to the Mid America body shape that are definitely NOT features of either of the #002 Grand Sport bodies.

Regarding the flares on any of existing real 5 GS cars . I would doubt that any of the real Chevrolet installed flares still exist. They were easy sacrificial body parts in racing. When I went to look at George Wintersteens #002 car back in late 1967 for the pricely sum of $5500 I could have bought the car, an extra hood, 2 sets of Americans with Firestones all mounted up and a few other spare parts . Four of which were extra flares !!!. The flares by the way so I was told were made from some U haul trailer fenders !!! They rented a U Haul trailer made some molds off the steel fenders and used them as replacement parts for the GS. They were a perfect match !!!
Regarding the upcoming new Superperformance GS versions , has anyone seen one yet ???I'm not talking about the Duntov versions but the street Superperformance versions.

I know a couple people who did body work on the real cars and they told me they used fiberglass boat tailer fenders............thus the inspiration for the fender flares I used on my Honda Civic to cover the wide front tires.

It ran an 11.04 at 134mph when Hot Rod Magazine tested it back in 2001. That was through the muffler and on a 7" front tire. It pissed their readers off pretty badly....especially since it registered 27mpg in town and 37 on the freeway!
It's still my favorite car of all time.

I hope True Blue Vette or someone from Duntov can answer my questions regarding their claim that the molds they are using are from #002. Please refer to post #482 for my photo comparison.

Here is a photo of Duntov Motor Company Grand Sport continuation #014. They certainly are not using any molds from the originals as they say they are. The nose is drooped down.

Damn......and Edward had the gall to call my Mongoose car a "frankenstein"!
#14 is one of the most distorted reproductions I've ever seen. Man, is that thing ugly!

I wonder if Superformance will be using these molds. If so, you can expect the majority of GS replicas to look like that.
It's sad and I don't think the Grand Sport deserves that image. I really hope they do start using correct molds.
