63 console resto update
Hi Guys,
Awhile back i posted a question asking about any company specializing in console restoration. As you probably know the 63 console is not painted like the 64-67`s, but rather it is an anodized aluminum finish that is prone to scratching over the years.
I was considering buying a ropop for over $500 when members of the forum suggested several resto people. Well, I sent the console to Pro 1 Polishing on Nov 26 and just got it back this week, Feb 15. Before I sent the console I was told 2-3 weeks on turnaround time. I made 4 phone calls during this time to check progress and was told"two more weeks' each time.
I was getting nervous, but Lou on the other end of the phone sounds so honorable that I forced myself to be patient.
Here`s the update. The console is not perfect, but is a great improvement. The finish is really bright and lou fixed a lot of the little dings and scratches in the console. The cost was $240, less than half the cost of a repop. In all, I`m satisfied. i just wish vendors would tel you 7-8 weeks if it`s going to be that long. Thanx, Bob Myers C

Sorry for the tardy reply, I have been in San Diego at the swap meet at the stadium. You should see the 50`s style low buck street rods and the do-wopers who drive them. The are really cool.
