Default Corvette "push" car

I just saw an old film of some races at Dover Drag Strip from the early 70's In it it showed a match race between T.V. Tommy Ivo and Don Prudholme. This was in the era of cars still pushing the fuelers to start them. Ivo's push car was a '70 or '71 Corvette (yeah I know it's not a C-1 or C-2, but I don't hang over at that section of the forum). I guess Corvettes also serve(d) some other purposes !

The chromed bumpered '68-'72 Corvette was distinguishable by it's seriously tapered and pointed front bumper......Not in this case !

That's when men were men. Thanks for posting it.
This is the T/F'er I wrenched on in the early 70's. You got to love the clothes??

Default Actually, 1972.

The year in the film was 1972 as 'Wild Man' Willie Borsch was running his Yellow Dodge Charger with a blown bb Chevy...At 3:50 into the film he`s approaching the line. Car never ran with a damn...Tow/push was not unusual to use a Vette...My 62 served me well several times as a tow car at the US Nationals....that was one of the reasons why it has a trailer hitch the other was to tow the drag boats....

Default Dover Drag strip

Dover used to have a lot of really neat cars from all over the country. Don Garlits was one of my favorites. Home for guys like Al Hoffman (retired T/F) the Terenzio Bros. and Bobby Lagana. I find the Dover site a trip to the past. Many are still racing (Mad Frenchman 75years old) and having a blast.

I used to go every Sunday to watch (64-69) then almost every Sunday to race. (69-close)

We used to complain about that place constantly but we loved the place! Kind of a unique club all of us ex-Dover heads...Dino now lives in Rockingham, NC.

Going to the Reunion Nostaglia race at Island?

Fred
