Default C1 grill teeth ID

I'm going to dissassemble the grill bar and teeth on the 60. The grill teeth don't appear to all be in the correct positions and I will have to replace some of them. Anyone know how to tell which ones are which? Noland Adams book says something about stamped markings I assume on the inside of the castings but I'm unable to see anything. Where are the stamped numbers?

Anyone have the height of the different teeth? That may be my only way of telling the difference...

All responses are much appreciated!

Take it apart and you should be able to see the numbers/letters. Noland makes it easy to understand. Differences don't exactly jump out at you, the numbers make it much easier.

Some repro's don't have the casting numbers ,but there is a difference even having numbers !180 one way or the other,I think all number are on top of the center bar to be positioned correct.(angle)

Well it's apart but there are no numbers or markings so these must all be repros.

Where are the markings on the GM teeth castings?

I have 2 that are 6 7/8" tall which I think are the end ones next to the bumpers.

I have 4 that are 7 1/8" tall and 3 that are 7 1/4" tall.

I don't think I have a center one which I would think would be taller.

Look inside of the grill teeth. There should be a 7 digit part number as well as a single digit ie. "C", "1", "4" and "5".The C is the center tooth. The order of teeth is goes 5-4-4-1-C-1-4-4-5. I can list the part numbers of each tooth if you like.

Jim

P.S. Sometimes tooth number "5" isn't marked with a "5" but will have a part number 3706428-9

Hey Mark,
I have some nice spares if you need to replace a few. Just let me know if you do.

Mark,

Sounds like you're going deep on the 60, which is awesome Bud! I talked to Scott today, and sounds like you guys havea solid plan on the 60.

Man, that was one stunning car already. I know, since I've had the pleasure of driving it. That was before the dual 4's. Now with the new paint, it's going to be off the charts.

Can't wait to see the progress on her.

Rob

PS. Got the 67 back today after it's tune post-breakin. It's fuggin insane!!!

Yep, got to get er done while she's all apart!

The grill teeth, gauge cluster, seats, kicks and door panels have always bugged me so they are all getting refurbed while Scott's doing the paintwork
(including the hardtop), dash pad and windsheild R&R. She will pop like nobody's biz when she's done!

That 67 L89 is running better than it has ever run. Can't wait till next spring/summer when they'll all be back on the road.

Cheers Bro!
