9 leaf rear with 225/50X17" tires
I want to replace my VB&P rear spring with the stock 9 leaf from Eaton. I have stock trailing arms and 225/50X17" tires. Wheels are 8" with 4 1/2" backspacing. I am concerned there may be an issue with the stock 9 leaf and tire clearance. Especially when jacking up the rear. Any of you have this combination? Any issues? Thanks

Ken,
Guldstrand used to have a shortened main leaf. While I think it was intended for the 7 leaf F41 spring, I think it would work fine with the 9 leaf version. Last I looked (a few months ago) they still showed it for sale. Give them a call...

Thanks Harry, I thought of that too but I want to keep it all Eaton if possible. I want to make sure the spring is consistent in rating. Eaton will make a main leaf shorter than stock but it costs an additional $150 or so. So if I can save $150, and have their 9 leaf, I can spend the savings on other parts

A few pictures of the wheel and spring would help from those who have this combination. Then Ken can see how much clearance he has and any other issues that may not be apparent.
On my '66 with 12x16 wheels, the TRW fiberglass spring was above the rim edge and so it cleared. It may be the same for the 17 inch but you can't bet on it since the spring adjustment can place it at different positions.
