Default Keisler 5 - speed next generation transmission

I have been saving up to get a Keisler TKO 600 5 speed for my C2. I am wondering if this next generation trans is the replacement for the Tremec TKO or if this is a replacement for the T-56? Looks like a winner....

I didn't notice anything in the email saying it would be a replacement for anything specific.

Edit: I was scouring that thing for notice of any TKO600 deals though, so I could've missed it.

Yeah, I got a notice on that via email this morning. Like that 2.79 first gear ratio.

I'm wanting to put a TKO 600 in mine but first need to finish the motor....

Hard to beat the 'ole TKO-600....I'm more than tickled with mine in a '61..

I took 2 years deciding on the swap and comparing among 4-5 vendors and when you could finally get an 'apples-to-apples' comparison wading through the options and gizmos I'd say the 'big boys' were all within a couple of hundred bucks of each other...

But going to wait now until this next winter to do this. By then some guys will have this one in and get some feed back on it. Looks good by the write up and what it should do in the car.

I wonder how Tremec pulling their Keisler's distributorship license as of March 1st affects this.

Hmmmmm, perhaps that is why the name Tremec isn't on it? Time to call Hurst!

Blargh, what. In other words, waiting for the next TKO sale is probably a bad idea.

I put the TKO 600 in mine last year. I debated it for about two years. It was the best mod I could have invested in. If you can, go for it.

Jim,

Why are they pulling the plug on Keisler?

I don't know the specifics. I was told that by one of their employees. To verify, I went to the Tremec web site and did a search for dealers within 100 miles of Keislers address. It came up with a bunch of dealers but Keisler wasn't one of them.

Just curious since I have a Keisler TKO 600.

PS....like the white 60. Had a good friend that had one. I almost bought one but got talked out of it.

Default 5 Speed

I bought my TKO about 5 years ago through Classic Chevy, no problems so far. They made a couple of mods to the TKO that were different than the Keisler mods. I really liked the idea that the shift assembly was lubricated in the Classic. Have never dealt with Keisler.

I find Keisler's replies interesting. Truthful, no, but interesting.

Them saying "Over the years, Keisler has done a better job of marketing and promoting the Tremec line than Tremec themselves" is pure .

I can't say enough about how the 5 speed makes highway driving a whole new experiance. If you want a driver this is a must. The next best thing was getting rid of the 4 barrel and add a fuel injection system.!! No warming up, sputtering or gas smell.

I will be one of them. How about
1st- 2.79
2nd-1.99
3rd- 1.24
4th- 1.00
5th- .67

Also, look closely at the top of the main case. Should be much better on clearance on C2 tunnel. I'm told that the single internal shifter rail is going to be smoother shifting than the TKO.
I have had several communications with Keisler about what to put in my car over the months, they are friendly, informative, and don't have that superiority attitude that I have found all too often when dealing with companies if you need something a little different. As far as price- for the guys on the C3 forum link, its called capitalism. If you don't like the price, buy from someone else. Nobody is holding a gun to your head and making you buy-- errr except Obamacare.

You'll love it, especially with your new mufflers. It dropped my 70MPH 3500 RPM down to just about 2000.

I like those gear spacings, a lot like the Muncie spacings (RPM drop at each shift). Their web site shows a 3.37 1st gear (not so desirable). Are you saying they are planning to offer the 2.79?
