OK, read that cover to cover, very interesting and very heated at times, aren't forums great!
Anyway, just to add to that, is the date coding letters for the heads the same as build dates, such as E for Jan, etc?

I checked my Noland Adam's 63-67 complete restoration guide, and it appears that A=January for a head. At least on the page I was reviewing in the 63 model year.

Who really cares?

They are both crap when compared to after-market heads (dart / world / etc.)

Their real relevance lies in maximum performance within the confines of a stock, period correct appearance.Add 2.02-1.60 valves and they do quite well.

Nope. The date code on a trim tag has "A" as the first month of production for that model year, which can change depending on the year.

Casting date codes are always "A" = January, "B" = February, etc.

Thanks John,

Now assuming to be correct, if you have a 64 with E20 build date, I would think that the heads would be weeks to maybe a month prior. For example would they be something like A-8-4, month day year? January 8,1964, Did they build these heads for 12 months, say Dec would be a 12?
