Default Fram oil filters

The most used filter here in Norway is Fram. What kind of Fram oil filters do you use? I use Fram PH 30 oil filter but i read that tou can have a bigger Fram oil filter PH 13.
Since the PH 13 filter is bigger(therefore can clean more?) i suppose it might be better?

Before i usually used Kendall oil filters(not availible anymore)and they where much bigger than the Fram Ph 30 oil filter

What do you think?

If I use a Fram, I use the correct one, the CH-200PL.

Nice to know. I have always been told it was the PH 30 filter.
I got to talk to the seller of the filter

I found this page on the net

if you are talking about a 'spin-on' type filter, here is the 2 quart STP. you may be able to cross reference it to Fram or some other brand.

I think you are missing the bigger picture here. The PH 30 and PH 13 are "spin-on" filters. The CH200 is a "canister filter" that is placed within the original engine-mounted "can." They are not interchangable..., unless...

Someone has added the "canister to spin-on adapter" which was a common modification. If you've been using the PH 30, you've obviously had this modification. Most auto parts stores now only list the spin-on replacement in their computers. I would just go with the larger filter assuming it clears everything.

Do you have the canister type:

http://www.ecklers.com/catalogsearch...4&q=oil+filter

If not, then it would be a Fram TG / DF / PH30.

See: http://www.framcatalog.com/Application.aspx?b=F

The Frams sold here are made in Mexico, but they are probably still a good product. I used to use the metallic orange racing filter from Fram on my 66. Extra strong casing and more filtering. Not cheap but cheap insurance.

My preference is a K&N (http://www.knfilters.com/search/appsearch.aspx) filter... Their air filters are great as they can be reused and from all that I have found their filters are of high quality. Check out the HP-2002 oil filter, which is for a '64 small block.

Also, check out: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/atta...er_adapter.pdf.

Sounds like you have had the modification...

I also use the larger one, since it also adds oil storage capacity.

I change my oil at 3000 miles or annually which ever occurs sooner. The filter never really gets dirty. So I use the PH 30 Fram.

Wix or Baldwin. I wouldn't put a Fram filter on my lawn mower.

Which ever filter you use, you might want to check this out.
http://www.shopfiltermag.com/
I've used them on at least 50 CAT equip, (fuel, hydraulic, engine) trucks, race, personal...
You would not believe the stuff I have got out of filters, especially rust in the fuel filters.
CAT, filtermag, etc. sell filter openers to make it easy to inspect and i've found it to be just like they show in their brochures.

Fram filters will not pass enough oil to satisfy your engine requirements. The bypass valve will stay open which means unfiltered oil circulates through your engine. This has been discussed many times here.

Maybe worth a read:

Yes, it's not from a Corvette club, but the info is interesting....

Before you put a Fram filter on anything I would suggest that you cut one open and compare it to another filter. The local parts store that I deal with will not even sell Fram filters. They have all oil filters that they sell cut open and displayed on the counter for you to look at. The Fram uses a cardboard piece were all the other filters use a metal piece in the top of the filter. Just thought I would relay this to you..
