Default 1967 Convertible Missing Trim Tags?

I am looking to purchase a 67 which i have found but the car is in really rough shape with no trim tags? The VIN is in place and checks out as an original but is there any way to find out what this car came with for options? It has no motor, tranny or rear end unfortunately!

Thanks,

Yes,

You will never no anything except if it was a St Louis body or AO smith.

I think that answers the question I think was in there.

I'm always suspicious when a trim tag is missing. Why would it be missing? Can you post pics of the VIN tag to let the experts scrutinize it. And, match it to the frame serial# before you purchase. They (VIN plates) don't fall off by themselves, and thieves can buy bogus VIN plates for questionable/read stolen autos. Just sayin' z'all.......

it isnt stolen. The car has been sitting for 20 years. i checked the vin in Canada up here and it came up clear. Just though it would sure be nice to know what the car was as it looks like it was used for racing in the past with the flip up front end etc. He wants $10k for it which isnt bad as i was planning to turn it into a resto mod anyways.

It seems like Corvettes are either beat or they are babied, there isn't much middle ground!!!

Default 67 canada vette

if this 67 was delivered to canada from the factory, and not imported to canada after it left its usa dealer, then documentation can be obtained from oshawa gm services (i can find the number later if you need it......and you do need it) 1967 is the first year for gm to document all options on canadian delivered cars ,hp options, colors etc,and yes even antifreeze and extra gas from the factory was an option.so yes you can find out for under 50 bucks!

Did you check to see if it has a build sheet on the fuel tank?

The car has been modified so much, the lack of a trim tag has little bearing on its value. Get one off the internet later on -- it will be fine for everything short of judging.

How would you know that without the trim tag???? The VIN doesn't tell you where the body came from, St Louis or AO Smith. Also, the trim tag will give you the date of completion at the factory, the interior trim & color and the exterior color.

Default if its canadian

if your 67 was shipped to canada from the factory call 888 467 6853 or 905 440 7636 or email www.vintagevehicleservices.com and you will be able to research your 67. without trim tag you will find ,production plant, production date ,shipping date, and dealer and of course all options.

A.O. Smith used different style rivets where the upper door hinge reinforcement attached to the door inner panel, and on the under body if it hasn't been "spray paint rebuilt", The steel reinforcements were Zinc as oposed to black dipped at Saint Louis.

Default mr crackho

you being in canada....can also locate all previous owners back to 1973 with addresses at the time of ownership. just go to the dmv with 20 bucks and your vin ,who knows what this could turn up. any way gm has been documenting these canadian cars since ,i think, 1948. prior to 67 you got build date ship date and dealer, color and trim. 67 and newer you got ALL options. any how i hope i helped a bit. dc

my car didn't have a trim tag and was painted a different color. so what!!! i got a good car to build it like i wanted to. if you are an ncrs type don't bother with the car. if you want a car you can restore any way you want to, press on. enjoy the hobby!
