Default White Wall Tire Paint Needed

I purchase a set of 1 1/2" white wall radials for the '61 and they came from the factory with a brownish tone on the white walls. The brownish tone is a factory defect and I have tried every method to whiten them with no luck. I have come to the conclusion that the need to be painted or coated. Is there a white flexible paint for rubber? Thanks

Both Pep Boys and J C Whitney used to sell it. Unfortunatly the government outlawed whitewall tire paint in 2003. I have seen it still for sale on foreign websites, although importing it could make you a criminal in the eyes of the feds.

Why not return the tires and look for a set that are pure white? You paid good money for these tires, and you are entitled to have them white, not brown.

Hope this helps,
Mike

Just an idea, but for temporary band aid try the white shoe polish stuff that comes with an applicator sponge top. You may want to ask a auto paint guy about adding a flex agent to paint like they do with rubber/plastic bumpers, like a C3 has.

Try sanding the whitewall with 220 grit sandpaper to remove the yellow.
Sometimes this works.

I've used an SOS pad with a little water to foam it up with great success on my whites.

One of the more popular white wall cleaning agents actually stained my tires and I have been fighting a yellow discoloration ever since

I use westley's "bleaching" agent and it works for a time. The yellow always seems to bleed back. Dumb a** vendor ruined my tires.

Thanks Guys. Tried the Westley's and SOS pads. Worked on other tires but not these. Tires can't be returned at this point.
